Who says Physics is hard? It's as easy as...ice cream! After finishing the AP Physics exam these SSHS students celebrated by making and eating ice cream on a nice sunny afternoon. #WeAreSouthSummit #SSHSWildcats #PhysicsRocks #APPhysics

We are happy to announce the results of the State Solo and Ensemble: Ellis Leary on Piano Solo achieved a Superior (I) rating and will be awarded a medal by the UHSAA.
Ivy Jackson in Woodwind Solo received a Superior Minus (I-) rating, earning a certificate from the UHSAA.
Tapestry, our Chamber Choir, scored two Superior Minus (I-) ratings, securing a plaque in recognition of their performance.
These accomplishments reflect the immense dedication and countless hours of practice our students have devoted. Their hard work places South Summit High alongside top-performing, not to mention larger, schools such as Ogden, Timpview, Provo and American Fork-just to name a few. This makes us one of the smallest schools to achieve "Straight Ones." Congratulations students, Mr. Beal and Mr. Scribner! #WeAreSouthSummit #SSHSWildcats #BandRocks

College signing day at SSHS, complete with color coded donuts. Which color would you choose? Congratulations to our students who committed to taking the next step in their education and life! Several students stopped by throughout the day to place a sticker on their picture. We're so happy to see the various colleges, universities, trade schools and employment industries represented. The Class of 2024 is ready to change the world one class, one job, one person at a time. #WeAreSouthSummit #SSHSWildcats #ClassOf2024 #MirrorLakeDonuts

Our 4th graders know him as Dayton Fry, the Science Guy, but we know Dayton as a semifinalist for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. By executive order of the President, the program was created sixty years ago to recognize and honor some of our nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors. Dayton is one of eight Utah candidates, which have been narrowed down from 4,000 applicants, which will be narrowed down again to 161 final scholars. Not just anyone can apply, it's by invitation only. Mrs. Regan nominated Dayton earlier this year and they began the intensive application process soon after. Dayton will find out later this month if his semifinalist status changes to finalist when they announce the official U.S. Presidential Scholars for 2024. Official or not, Dayton is an incredible scholar, person and athlete. We are proud to have him represent South Summit and Utah. #WeAreSouthSummit #SSHSWildcats #PresidentialScholar

The South Summit Band continues to hit all the right notes. They received one superior and two excellent ratings at the recent region festival. Unlike high school sports, music festivals are more of a showcase, rather than a competition. Of all the bands from the region that performed, ours had the second highest results and just barely missed the cut to qualify for state. Not that anyone's keeping score. Congratulations high school band! #WeAreSouthSummit #SSHSWildcats #BandRocks

Mrs. Small's Sewing Construction and Textiles class has been busy learning new skills and making a big difference in some little lives. The class recently sewed more than 80 baby blankets to donate to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Primary Children's Hospital. It's 'sew' neat to see our students not just threading needles, but sewing seeds of compassion and kindness. #WeAreSouthSummit #UTPublicEd #PrimaryChildrensHospital #SSHSWildcats

We know that we have some amazingly talented students in our schools. But it's always nice when the judges agree with us. Our Music Department recently competed in Region events. Ellis Leary performed in the Piano Solo Event and Ivy Jackson performed in the Instrumental Woodwind Solo Event (accompanied by Ellis Leary). They both qualified to perform at the UHSAA State Solo and Ensemble!! Additionally, our Tapestry, who performed in the Chamber Choir Event qualified as well. Congratulations, students and directors-Mr. Beal and Mr. Scribner! That is truly music to our ears!
