At some point or another, we all have rough times and could use a little extra support.  SSHS counselors are happy to use our counseling experience to help students through a tough day or week, and we are proud to introduce our new school psychologist and school social worker. 

Danielle Katterman, School Psychologist

I have worked for the South Summit School District for 20 years. Over that time, I have been a special education teacher, the director of special education, and now a school psychologist! Feel free to contact me at dk@ssummit.org if you have questions or concerns regarding social/emotional support, seeking counseling services for your student, in need of community resources, or requesting an evaluation for a student suspected of having a learning disability. I am excited about my new position and look forward to getting to know all of you better. 

Kelly Cook, School Social Worker

Hi everyone! I’m the new social worker for the South Summit School District, and I have loved getting to know the amazing students and incredible staff in the district. I recognize that these teen years can be some of the very best times but can also be very challenging as students are learning and growing in a myriad of ways.  I truly feel it an honor to get to help in these pivotal years, seeing the courage it takes to manage new expectations and understandings, tapping into the strength and answers that lie within each student. 
I received my Masters of Social Work from the University of Utah, where I specialized in child welfare and trauma informed care in schools. It is often hard to explain what a social worker does, but it includes helping with mental health and behavioral concerns, positive behavioral support, academic, and classroom support, consultation with teachers, parents, and administrators, along with individual and group counseling. On a personal note, I love being outside with friends and family, playing with our two dogs, live for Halloween and for a good rock concert!
