Coding Week: Follow instructions.
Silver Summit Elementary, teacher Ms. Burnham, asked her class what is the first step of making hot chocolate.
The class said get hot water. She got the hot water and asked what was next. The class said make hot chocolate. She told them she only had hot water. One student told her to get the hot chocolate. She got the hot chocolate. Students told her to get the hot water. She then asked them what came next? The students said to make hot chocolate. She tried, but she did not have a cup. The students then figured out that they needed to start all over to gather the necessary supplies. They started over by gathering all of the supplies. Cup, spoon, hot chocolate packet, then they boiled water. Then they said to make the hot chocolate, but the next step was actually to open the hot chocolate packet and pour it into the cup. They continued on step by step until they made the hot chocolate.
Ms. Burnham said, "It was really fun to listen to the kids' thought process to go all the way back to the start and pay attention to the details. Halfway through they left out some details. The South Summit School Board will have a vacancy effective August 16, 2023 due to the resignation of the board member representing Precinct 5, South Summit West and South Summit South. Anyone who resides in Precinct 5, who is interested in being appointed to fill the vacancy may submit their name and contact information to Dawn McMillan at dmcmillan@ssummit.org by July 7, 2023 at 5:00 p.m.
The School Board will interview each individual whose name is submitted for consideration at its July 13, 2023 meeting in the open and public board meeting and will make the appointment within thirty days of the actual vacancy. Questions may be submitted to Dawn McMillan at the above email address.

Silver Summit Academy graduation has changed locations due to weather. Graduation will still begin at 6:00 and is still in Promontory. The new location is:
Double Deer Event Center, 6347 Nicklaus Valley Road in Promontory. the building is marked "Private Event". Guards at the gates will have maps to help you find your way.

South Summit dual language immersion students took their audience on a tour around the world recently. First through 5th grade students performed songs and dances from various Spanish-speaking countries. DLI students get to learn about different cultures throughout their years in the program.
