School mask mandate stays in place until June 15th. The Utah Legislature passed House Bill 294 in March. Most people are familiar with the part of the bill that says the state can no longer require masks in most public places after April 10. But the mask requirement stays in place for K-12 schools until June 15. Local officials, like a school board or county council, do NOT have the legal authority to end the mask requirement in schools before this date. Public health officials asked the Legislature (and the Legislature agreed) to keep a mask requirement in place for the following reasons: 1. No vaccine is currently authorized for anyone younger than 16. 2. Not every adult in the school setting has been vaccinated. 3. Children can get sick from COVID and have long-term effects. 4. Children can get COVID,

It is that time of year to order Yearbooks! We will be doing all orders online again this year. You can order online at https://www.purchaseyearbook.com/Customer/Home/Index?prepay=SouthSummitYB2021 . Pre-Sale orders are from January 4th to February 28th and the cost is $12.00. Regular Sale orders are from March 1st to March 31st and the cost is $20.00. No orders will be accepted after March 31st.

South Summit Elementary, once again, will be sponsoring the Giving Tree. It will look a little different this year, we will be accepting gift cards or you can venmo the PTO. The PTO Venmo account is SSES-PTO or you can drop off gift cards to the office. The deadline for donations will be Tuesday December 15th. Because of COVID-19 family needs are different this year. We will be helping ten (10) families. We are hoping to deliver their Christmas on Friday December 18th.
